My practice style provides personalized massage sessions to each and every client. An initial assessment begins the session as we will explore not only what the client's needs are but in many cases we will identify triggers which may be contributing to a client's areas of concern. Our targeted outcome is to provide as much relief as possible and create a plan for lifestyle modifications which support the work we will do together finishing with an ongoing plan for a continued cycle of healthy maintenance.

Clients might be familiar with massage terminology such as classic, Swedish, Thai, deep tissue, neuromuscular, trigger point release, stretching, joint mobilization, hydrotherapy, stone massage, aromatherapy. In my 20 years of experience working with hundreds of clients, I have learned that clients simply want to feel better, become more relaxed, be rid of areas of pain or numbness, improve their posture, flexibility or range of motion.  For this reason, I have found that integrating techniques which aim to provide the outcome my client seeks is the best way to create a therapeutic session. I therefore do not charge extra for applications such as hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, stretching.

Finally, as an environmentally conscious therapist, I respect the body's need for treatment in an environmentally healthy space. Therefore, clients may expect that they receive the following: no toxic chemicals including fragrances in laundry, air fresheners, etc. Linens are organic and not created with chemical pesticides. The table foam and wood are eco-friendly and do not contain sprays, adhesives, varnishes, etc. Aroma therapies, if used, are food grade and USDA organic.  And any oils are food grade quality as well including Organic Coconut oil, Organic Grapeseed oil. I also do massage without the use of oils.

Your experience will combine essential elements of therapeutic quality  of peaceful balance that you can take with you into your world.

The following are general descriptions of various "classic" massages which may be applied to your session.

1. Swedish or Classic Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

2. Neuro-Muscular Therapeutic Massage, also known as Deep Tissue Massage, is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Therapeutic Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

The following techniques are applied within a therapeutic massage session:

3. Myo-Fascial Release  and Trigger Point Therapy- this pair of complimentary techniques are used to address chronic pain disorder of the back, neck, jaw, pelvis, etc. This therapy restores proper posturing, reduces pain and often eliminates pain due to releasing the origin, and unbinding restricted and areas of congested myo-fascial tissue.

4. Trigger Point Therapy applies specific focused light pressure to a muscle and fascia "knot". The release of this "trigger" area frees the tissue and resolves the pain or tension. Proper alignment, range of motion, compressed nerve releases, and release of trapped waste fluids result in healthy and pain-free tissues.

5. Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function.

Sports massage uses a combination of the following as clinically needed: classic massage techniques, neuromuscular techniques, myofascial massage techniques, stretching and range of motion techniques, hydrotherapy.

The client should have noticeable improvement in range of motion after one session.

Environmental Health Coaching

60 minutes: $90.00
90 minutes: $150.00

Is your environment making you sick?  We are bombarded by substances each and every day through exposures of hazardous substances in our water, air, soil, food, clothes, buildings, and beauty products, just to name a few.  These hazardous elements can be in the form of physical hazards, chemical, biological, cultural. In the end, these exposures may be the source of chronic health issues and impact the main dimensions of our health: physical, emotional, social, occupational, intellectual, spiritual. Through structured health assessments and coaching, this service aims to bring awareness to the particular multiple environments of the client and charts opportunities for decreasing and or eliminating the very triggers which may be impacting our mind, bodies and spirits. The goal is to expand life by identifying and eliminating the potential points of constriction.

Each session may include discussion, self exploration, bodywork and is based on the needs at the time of the session.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH IN OUR PERSONAL LIVES

Here we take a journey into the 6 major dimensions of health and address areas where energy is being constricted. We unmask these areas and modify behavior patterns to bring the system into an environment freer of triggers which reduce our ability to heal.

My work with nearly a hundred clients since 2013 includes the following topics:

Do I have mold in a living space, apartment, home, work environment. What do I do?

What is the difference between mold and water damage?

What are the symptoms of sick building syndrome?

How can I protect myself from the devastating stories I hear of people with mold damage?

The realtor told me that there was a remediation in the crawlspace but that it is okay now. Should I buy the home?

My allergies are so much worse than they have ever been. What should I do?

I have upper respiratory symptoms which will not go away. Could they be related to my home?

How do I select a place to live? What do I look for?

What are safe options to replace chemical products around my home.

How toxic is my car and what can I do about it?

While there are many many questions people have regarding environmental issues affecting their lives, these are some of the more common which I have heard and worked to help clients weave their way around to get back to a stronger and less burened life and immune system.

Canine Massage

30 minutes: $50.00

Treat your beautiful fur baby to a relaxing massage. Massage provides many benefits to our canine companions. For the sports enthusiasts, it works out soreness and increases joint efficiency along with increasing circulation and overall euphoria. For our seniors, massage reduces inflammation associated with arthritis and increases more normal range of motion. It lubricates drying muscle fibers and assists with relaxation. Working for 6 years with my two rescues, I have had the pleasure of calming the intensity, psychologically and physically, of my border collie even as a puppy. My golden retriever received massage throughout her life stages. Working with her veterinarian, I was able to apply massage instead of muscle relaxants for a partially slipped disk. She recovered within 2 days, which was the quickest her vet expressed she had ever seen a disk recovery. I just can't speak high enough of the benefits of massage for our canine companions.
